So lets ask Lauryn some questions!
If you could change one thing about the world as it is today, what
would it be?
I have aspirations to one day make it so that all people recycle. My
friend Piper refers to me as Captain Planet. I just can't stand when
something seems so relativly easy to fix but no action is taken to fix
it. I am not as earthy and and green as I could be and certainly not an
activist of any sort but wouldn't it be a no brainer for public waste
containers EVERYWHERE to contain compartments for waste, bio-degradable
stuff and paper and other recyclables? If they were everywhere people
would use them. You shouldnt have to call and ask for a recycle bin and in
some cases pay for it. It should a regular occurence like trash day!
What do you like to do in the off-season?
Watch football, doesn't every good American? It is actually the only sport I watch. This might sound
silly but I was never a sports fan until I was forced to learn about football
because my Highschool boyfriend was a star player in my town. I was
perfectly happy asking his family or my friends what the highlights were
and then regurgitating them to make it seem as if I actually knew all about it. I
was told to pick a team and follow them and I would catch on eventually,
so in 1999 I picked the Baltimore Ravens because I love purple. They won the
Superbowl in 2000 and I knew I had done a good job with my selection and
have stuck by my judgement ever since. Today I am a super fan attending at
least 5 games each year. Baltimore is a great place. In fact I would
describe it as my happy place.
What's your pet peeve?
People invading my personal space! I hate to be
kissed by people. You know that old man friendly peck hello. UGH!! I
still run from my own mother's advances of affection. I am very
territorial as well. I don't do well in roomate situations or with
people visiting me for long periods of time. I am all about
my stuff being mine and yours being yours. Don't leave your hair brush on
my bed and don't ask to borrow my clothes! I know that this might cause
some to describe me as selfish and/or cold hearted but I think you will
find the opposite. If you need something I would rather just give it to
you than let you borrow it. Hey everyone has that one thing...i dont think mine is too bad.
What is something people don't know about you?
I love to dress up! I know my friends are like.....huh?????
Not putting on cute outfits on a day to day basis, all girly and matchy and
stuff (I suck at that). Black tie events, ball gown dress ups.
Everyone has a vice of some sort. I like to buy fancy/expensive gowns
even though I have nowhere to go. Hopefully at some point my life will
transition into a time where I can strut my stuff at an event or two.
Favorite color?
Just look at the theme of the site I bet you can guess!
Name something you can't live with out?
My imagination. I love to day dream. I have always been a creator of fairy tale situations like the
perfect guy sweeping me off my feet in the most romantic way. As i have grown older I have become more aware of the fact that fairy tales are possible, although nothing ever play out perfectly there is always a chance
of a happy ending.
What is your favorite book?
Reading is FUNdamental, if you don't love books you should and if you do
then you can't have just one favorite. I am a James Patterson fan, the
first book of his I read was Cat and Mouse. I have been hooked ever
since. Another author I like is Sista Souljah, she is good for inner
city kids because her books are ghetto fabulous grabbing their interest
but have real messages on life that help you understand why it's
important to want more for yourself.
Other GREAT books:
My sister's keeper-Jodi Picoult
The Shack- William Young
Eva's Man- Gayl Jones
Favorite Place You've traveled to?
Switzerland! I have visited Lusanne, Luscern, Geneva and Zurich and love
each one! It is an amazing place I would definitely recommend it even if
you only got to pick one place to travel a lifetime.
What matters to you?
The village it took to raise me. At the top of this long list of people
would be my mom, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. When my father passed it put
into perspective how lucky I am to have such a great family who sticks
together. Also the out pouring of love from people who I have come to
realize are additional mother and father figures in my life. It has
really taken a village to raise me and I am so grateful to have so many
friends and family who care about my growth, character and well being.
How would your friends describe you....well why dont we ask a few of Lauryns what they have to say about her....
Piper Malone, buddy since 2nd grade now an attorney says
" An extremely fun, outgoing and goofy girl. Extremely dedicated, hard
working, optimistic, playful, etc."
Stephanie Jackson, who I've known since 8th grade and thought enough of me
to let me be the God mother of her 1st born says
"You are very trustworthy, dependable, and passionate.Nothing is more
important to you then your friends and family. You are a very kind, and
social person. You will talk to and speak to anyone. You aren't afraid
to speak your mind.Even tho you have achieved so much, you have never
let anything change who you are."
